I am the Founder of JLW Financial & Insurance Services (JLWFIS), which offers a holistic approach to business, personal and financial planning for privately held business owners and their employees. I have been in the insurance and financial services industry since 1985. I earned my CFP designation in 1992, and my Certified Exit Planning Advisor (CEPA) designation in 2019. I started my own business in 2003. The mission of JLWFIS is to help privately held business owners and their employees develop and preserve both their financial and physical (health) assets, so that they can enjoy their retirement years and leave a lasting business and family legacy for future generations.

I have been happily married to my wife Julie since 1984. We have two daughters and two granddaughters. I grew up swimming competitively, and now my AAU coach has encouraged me to compete in Masters Swimming after a 35-year hiatus. I have participated in a Laps For Life swimming fundraiser since 2022, which raises scholarship funds for physically challenged athletes. I’m also passionate about Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA). I have been a RYLA counselor since 2005.

I love our Westlake Village Sunrise Rotary Club. I’m a past president (2021-2022) and currently the membership chair (2024-2025). Westlake Village Sunrise Rotary and RYLA are like a second family to me.  Finally, I’m passionate about bringing more health and wellness to our Rotary District 5240 members. In 2024, I partnered with Rotarians Kim Fly (Carpinteria Morning) and Edwin Velarde (Westlake Village Rotary Club) to produce the first “Multi-Activity Family Fellowship Day,” which offered health activities in three groups – swimming, biking, and hiking.
